As the demand for our expertise continues to grow, a requirement has arisen for a Finance Manager to ensure the sound financial management of one of our key Alliances. The finance team is a driving force behind efficiency and cost improvements, whilst providing appropriate challenge and support to the business, together with the provision of valued management information to the AMT and parent companies. This is a permanent position based in Derby.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Business related:


  • Work with the Alliance Management Team (AMT) in challenging and amending the processes used to operate, and control performance.

  • Support the AMT in continuously striving to meet cost base challenge for the new regulatory model, so achieving desired financial performance

  • Work with parent companies and other support functions to streamline costing and control processes, removing waste duplication, and unnecessary effort.

  • Deliver business projects designed to make an improvement to business performance.
2. Finance related:

  • Deliver all required financial reporting requirements for the AMT, JV and parent companies, as well as providing valued analysis and management information to support effective decision making.

  • Ensure that appropriate, and effective, financial controls are in place for reporting processes, and transactional tasks.

  • Insure tight discipline and efficiency of accounts payable and payroll processes.

  • Strong management of cash inflows and outflows in keeping with contractual requirements

  • Develop reporting requirements so that they evolve to meet changing business needs and requirements

  • Ensure that adherence to financial accounting and commercial governance is maintained in alignment with parent companies policies and procedures. ou believe you have the necessary knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to succeed in this position, then we would like to hear from you. 3. Team related:

  • Develop and manage the core finance team to maximise performance

  • Ensure that the core finance team have the appropriate qualified and experienced staff with the right capabilities, and to lead their training and development.

  • Drive continuous improvement through the team and lead with a ‘can do’ attitude.  Assume responsibility for actions of themselves and their team

  • Ensure that policies are implemented consistently and that core values of the alliance concerning people are upheld, especially those concerned with fairness, equal opportunity and work-life balance.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Qualifications & Experience

Essential:


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with 3 years’ post qualifying experience

  • Strong business/process analysis skills.

  • Project accounting experience.

  • Excellent man-management, influencing and communication skills at all levels.

  • Experience of dealing with senior management

  • Strong IT and Microsoft excel skills and experience

Ideal:

  • Previous experience in engineering or construction industry

  • Exposure to systems accounting

Other requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Negative result for the compulsory Drugs and Alcohol test in line with Parent Company policy

  • A requirement to stay away from home on occasions.
