Navitas Canada has two schools located in Vancouver and Winnipeg. Fraser International College (FIC), in partnership with Simon Fraser University, offers university pathway programs to international students and is based on the campus of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. The International College of Manitoba (ICM) offers pathways to the University of Manitoba. The College is located on the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry Campus, in Winnipeg.
The Finance Officer will be expected to provide support to the Finance Director and the Finance Manager.
We currently have an opening for a self-motivated, highly organized and capable individual to work as a Finance Officer within our team.
The Finance Officer is responsible for providing accounts support to the Finance Manager and Finance Director.
Main duties of role include creditor management, commission payments to agents, student
financial management, bank and general ledger reconciliations.
Essential Skills and Experience include:
 Post-secondary studies in Accounting and/or related areas
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Attention to details and high accuracy levels
 Computer literacy
 Team-based approach to work

Position Description
Title: Finance Officer
Division: Navitas Canada
Reports to: Finance Manager Navitas Canada
1. Overview and Objectives of the Position:
The Finance Officer is responsible for providing accounts support to the Finance Manager and Finance Director.
2. Key Relationships:
i. Principal FIC
ii. College Director/Principal ICM
iii. Students
iv. Administrative Staff
3. Key Responsibilities:
 Creditor management
i. Maintain creditors database and ledger entry of invoices
ii. Generate creditor payments throughout the year
iii. Reconciliation of supplier statements and creditor accounts
iv. Maintain sundry creditors and accruals
 Agents – Commission Payments and Database
i. Generate agent’ commission payments
ii. Provide effective communication with agents in respect of their accounts.
iii. Maintaining of accurate creditor’s database
iv. Process and review of commission refunds.
v. Assist marketing and admissions sections with the adoption of the Navitas Agent Portal and ensure integrity of the data at all times in relation to commission calculation.
 Student Financial Management
i. Process student receipts and refunds.
ii. Update the receipt batch and prepare the necessary paperwork for banking and filing purposes.
iii. Reviewing student files for action

 Bank Reconciliation
i. Prepare the bank reconciliations
 General ledger
i. Raise general ledger payments, receipts and journals
ii. Assist with preparation of regular general ledger reconciliations
 General Duties
i. Relieve/assist the other members of the finance team as required
ii. Ensure documentation is maintained in an orderly fashion
iii. Provide administrative relief when required during busy periods in other areas of business
iv. Provide excellent internal and external customer service
v. Other duties as required
4. Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Essential:
i. Post-secondary studies in Accounting and/or related areas or extensive experience in an accounting area
ii. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
iii. Attention to details and high accuracy levels
iv. Proven and demonstrated ability to use Microsoft office and Oracle
v. Proven ability to work as a part of a team
vi. Personable with a positive and willing attitude.
vii. Demonstrated alignment with the Navitas values of: conviction, rigour, drive, adventurous, respect and genuine.
viii. Legal right to work in Canada.
Desirable:
1. Currently in an accounting program (CGA, CMA)
2. Experience in dealing with people from different cultures
