The Senior Stock Loan Trader is responsible for the daily negotiation of Securities Lending transactions and facilitating the lending of long inventory to maximize on loan balances at optimal fee/rate.
Major Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Managing daily trading/lending of discretionary pool of assets to our borrower base
  • Monitoring: daily rates compared to open discretionary loans and market data provider to ensure optimal rates are achieved, manage the re-rate process, and monitor assigned asset types and countries on a daily basis.  
  • Transactions: Manage Scrip, Dividend, rights and other corporate action trades including valuing and negotiating with borrowers. Strong understanding of yield enhancement and the relevant characteristics of the corresponding stock loan transaction.
  • Portfolio estimate process: identify relevant information and the potential revenue of a group of assets based on current lending markets and potential future revenue based on all factors (Existing/future demand, intrinsic value, corporate action value, DRP/Scrip value). Assimilate information and generate comprehensive revenue estimate.
  • Exclusive Auction: proficiency in all aspects of the Auction process from portfolio valuation, auction lotting, pre-auction template, interaction with Client Relations and Portfolio Manager, marketing of auction, management of actual Auction. Valuation of Auction results, presentation to clients.
  • Borrower relationship Management: ability to build and maintain strong relationships with borrowers both in person and remotely; maintenance and presentation of regular relationship status reports.
  • Internal point of contact: interact with various groups internally (Settlements, recalls, corporate actions, compliance, legal and client relations) to manage and promote daily discretionary and exclusive lending.
  • Problem resolution: Pro-active issue/problem assessment and resolution to insure minimal loan/return fails and accurate monthly billing.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in accounting, finance, economics or related field required, Master’s Degree/MBA,CFA highly desired.
  • 5+ years experience as a stock loan trader or related experience.
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in all markets and relevant trading opportunities
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills required as well as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Experience with Cognos, 4Sight systems and Dataexplorers beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client facing experience desired, aptitude to collaborate with other departments and build internal relationships. 
  • Capability to travel 10-15% of the time
