Responsibilities

The Business Credit Services Underwriter III position is responsible for reviewing, underwriting and decisoning within delegated lending authority, loan requests under credit policy. Underwriting and decisioning should be based on sound credit with particular emphasis on adherence to credit policy and requirements, bank's risk culture, financial analysis/modeling, risk evaluation and mitigation and proper loan structuring. Position is responsible for underwriting and decisioning within delegated lending authority, within SLAs and meeting production requirements.

The Underwriter III will independently interact with Senior Management, Sales Team, Credit Products Officer, Credit Officer and/or GRG, in order to discuss and resolve risk related issues. UW II independently reviews financials, proposed loan structure, collateral and due diligence, makes recommendations and approves New Money requests within delegated lending authority. Aggressively seeks alternative means of financing or counter offers for all borrowers when it is determined that the original request cannot be accommodated.

The UW III will also be responsible to complete annual review/renewal and/or modifications associated with new money requests.

The UW III will perform the functions of the position with periodic oversight and is expected to perform with reasonable to general supervisory intervention. They will be responsible for underwriting the moderately complex relationships within the group.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting and/or Economics preferred, Master's Degree a plus.

6-10 years of experience and exhibited competency in various aspects of commercial lending /portfolio management including financial analysis and credit structuring, understanding and applying credit policy, and credit monitoring and risk administration practices. Expected to have some level of credit and documentation experience. Must be skilled in proposing and negotiating and approving credit and covenant structures.

Must demonstrate practical and conceptual knowledge of credit and risk analysis. Equivalent work experience may be considered as an alternative to formal degree program completion.

COMPETENCY AREAS:

General knowledge in financial modeling and able to structure credit in modeling environment. Able to assist RMs on how to structure the credit relationship.

Exhibits competency at independently reaching conclusions and forms clear view of credit structure and business risk to Bank.

Thorough understanding of industry nuances applicable to the credits contained within group's portfolio.

Thorough knowledge of loan and related legal documents.

Strong communication skills; and ability to influences others by persuasively presenting thoughts and ideas to gain commitment and agreement for proposed ideas and solutions.
