Provides guidance and direction for what may include multiple Global Treasury (GT) operational disciplines.  Primary focus is to manage complex projects for optimal effectiveness, minimize operational risk, identify and implement effective and efficient processes and ensure a high level of service is provided to Global Treasury Operations (GTO) stakeholders in accordance with industry operational best practices regionally.

Primary purpose is to assist the Global Treasury team build a new allocation to the Leveraged Loan asset class.  This is a new role that will enable the candidate to work with various functional areas within State Street in order to establish policies and procedures to ensure a successful loan investment program.

Responsibilities may include management of projects that some combination of the following:  Payments, Collateral Management/Margins, Corporate Actions/Income Processing, Static Data/Data Management, Trader Support, Clearance/Settlement, Control/Reconciliation/Investigations, Documentation/Confirmations, Customer Service, New Accounts, and Valuation/Pricing and may have responsibility for GTO related project management and/or play a key role in broader GT related projects.

  • Liaise with State Street's back office to ensure proper loan set up

  • Work with Portfolio Manager/Trader, Loan Operations and other internal and external stakeholders to assure all loan documentation meets legal and regulatory requirements to facilitate the prompt settlement of primary and secondary market leveraged loan trades

  • Facilitate communication between State Street's Loan Operation and Agent Bank to co-ordinate all loan level data, including rate sets, pay downs and interest payments

  • Work with functional areas within State Street to assure proper reporting of loan level and portfolio information

  • Promote, create and implement policies and procedures

  • Provide guidance and direction for the effective completion of operational responsibilities

  • Enforce operational procedures and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the department's responsibilities – review / revise department procedures in line with regulatory and/or effective workflow requirements

  • Serve as an expert resource on operational needs for the group

  • Engage senior management when appropriate, escalate issues that impact workflow / resources, offers solutions to problems and seeks approval to ensure course of action has been agreed

  • Work with GT management and stakeholders to ensure appropriate controls are in place to support favorable ratings on audits and regulatory reviews

  • Coordinate with sites to ensure global consistency of process under a global operating model

  • Multiple level reporting structure with direct reports who may also have direct reports

  • Work well with all GTO members and GT stakeholders as demonstrated by being responsive to requests


  • Experience with bank loan documentation, coordination, execution and settlement required

  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent

  • 7+ years experience working in Treasury /Investment Operations or equivalent

  • Strong leadership skills – excellent management / coaching / delegation skills

  • Strong operational control experience – specific understanding of industry best practices with regard to effective operational control infrastructures

  • Able to manage multiple operational disciplines / priorities / projects in accordance with established timeframes

  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal as demonstrated through clear, concise communication using good grammar

  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work under pressure, meet established deadlines with accuracy and a professional approach

  • Demonstrate an aptitude for learning and development

  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence when working independently or in teams

  • Ability to think creatively and analytically to solve complex problems and identify opportunities to improve existing management and controls
