Finance is an exciting area as the division supports a variety of products in a constantly changing marketplace.
Financial Control oversees the financial records and reporting of our business activity. Providing accurate information, they enable us to react to opportunities and focus on critical business issues. Financial Control also provides information to senior management, as well as external fiscal parties.
Product Control provides explanations of business revenues, attributing any movements to market positions, inherent risk and new deals. The team is also responsible for ensuring the integrity of the balance sheet for revenue products. Product Control is key to our reporting and control infrastructure and the information provided by the group gives us the means to assess business performance. In addition, the group coordinates all global finance controls and procedures.
Financial Decision Support bolsters Barclays Capital's growth by enabling and supporting all financial decisions within the firm, through timely provision of quality data and partnership with key strategic decision makers.
Tax is responsible for managing tax risk in Barclays Capital and provides tax support to all our business areas.
Main Function
- To ensure the accuracy and integrity of revenues generated by the BPCP and legacy Private Equity funds and ensure that the general ledger properly reflects the P&L and accruals relating to investments.
- Month-end close process
Main Duties
- Responsible for daily P&L production.
- Own Balance Sheet and understand B/S movements.
- Responsible for month-end reconciliations, postings and reporting.
- Be the point of contact for the front office and in providing information for back office and other interested parties.
- Ensure the maintenance of a strong internal control environment
- Liaison with other departmental areas (e.g. Front Office, Operations, IT, Financial Control)
- Assist with wider group initiatives such as systems migrations.
- Process and control development, identification of improvements through documentation and analysis of current procedures
Person Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree
- 2+ years of Finance experience
- Business or Finance degree
- 1+ years of Product Control
- Strong control awareness
- Desire to provide top quality service to internal clients
- Excellent people skills, both communication and active listening
- Ability to review problems from different view points, devising and implementing practical solutions
- Ability to meet regular, tight reporting deadline
- Use of Excel macros and Access to build reporting and analysis tools
- Evidence of Finance Projects experience
- Basic accounting/ finance knowledge
- Strong knowledge on credit derivatives with basic exposure to correlation products
- Proactive person who challenges processes and looks for improvements.
- Confident and able to deal with potentially difficult clients
