We are a global financial institution seeking an experienced tax professional to assist with international planning.
Responsibilities

• Assist in the management of tax planning projects with respect to a variety of transactions.
• Coordination of project implementation with the tax compliance & tax accounting groups within the corporate tax department as well as with other groups across the organization (accounting, legal, finance, etc.)
• Work with Vice President – International Taxes on interfacing with outside advisors on tax planning projects; extensive interface with all other tax groups within the Department.
• Assist in developing strong team atmosphere focused on the highest quality of tax planning.
• Coordinate and/or lead various federal and international tax planning initiatives such as foreign tax minimization strategies.
• Help coordinate local country tax planning in select countries.
• Identify and support strategies to maximize foreign cash repatriation and foreign tax credit utilization, coordinating the foregoing with the Treasury Departments, as well as within the tax group.
• Candidate needs to stay current on US and foreign tax laws.
• Candidate must be able to perform the necessary background work independently, interfacing with appropriate tax and finance team members in order to articulate clear and timely recommendations on key tax issues.
• Work effectively under real-world circumstances of imperfect information and/or short timelines.
• Determine additional information, personnel or other resources required to solve a problem and establish an efficient plan for obtaining what is needed.
• Interface extensively with outside advisors on projects; evaluate effectiveness of those relationships.
• Review and monitor changes in local and foreign tax legislation, rulings, regulations and litigation.
• Understand the relevant impact, recommend and implement responsive action to manage existing positions and capture new opportunities.
• Conduct tax research and prepare technical memos documenting tax strategies and authority for tax positions.
• Oversee and/or assist, as necessary, in the planning, coordination and management of tax consultants.
• Review/direct complex international portions of the US tax returns such as Gain Recognition Agreements and tax return disclosures.
• Participate in the defense of tax positions claimed on returns on exams by taxing authorities.
• Ensure filings in compliance with Genworth integrity standards.
• Contribute ideas and/or project leadership for automation/process improvements relating to international tax compliance and reporting.
• Prepare financial models as required to analyze the cash and/or GAAP tax impact of strategies or changes in tax laws

Qualifications

• 7+ overall years corporate tax planning background with extensive experience in US international outbound issues.
• A JD degree or CPA is required; a LLM or a Masters Degree in Taxation will be a plus.
• Experience in the financial services industry or Big 4 Public Accounting with emphasis in US taxation of global operations.
• Strategic tax planning background and experience dealing with US GAAP tax accounting/reporting implications of transactional tax projects.Anchor
• Proven track record of working closely with various groups within a corporate structure including treasury, finance, legal, operations, etc.
• Strong communication (verbal and written), presentation, project management skills.
• Candidate must demonstrate solid organizational skills, be willing and able to manage multiple projects with varying deliverables and work well as a team partner in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
• Candidate must be able to creatively research, analyze, and conclude specifically assigned US international and foreign tax issues
• Strong track record of problem solving and strategic/creative thinking skills
